Wimbledon Champions are revered as Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is widely regarded as the most prestigious. Accordingly, we list its greatest women’s doubles champions.

Greatest Women’s Doubles Wimbledon Champions

  • Suzanne Lenglen and Elizabeth Ryan (1919-23, 1925)
American Elizabeth Ryan was the most dominant women’s Wimbledon Doubles player in history. During the period of 1914-1934, Ryan appeared in 13 finals, winning 12 of them. However, her greatest pairing was with fellow American Suzanne Lenglen. In addition to winning a record six titles as a team, the pair also hold the record of five consecutive titles.
  • Serena Williams and Venus Williams (2000, 2002, 2008-09, 2012, 2016)
The Williams sisters were one of the most dominating teams in Wimbledon history, tying the record for most Doubles titles as a team, with six. In fact, Serena and Venus are a perfect 6-0 in Wimbledon doubles play.
  • Martina Navratilova and Pam Shriver (1981-84, 1986)
Navratilova and Shiriver were one of the greatest teams of all-time. However, as good as they were they could have been much better. The team shockingly split in 1989, thus depriving fans the pleasure of seeing this team win even more Wimbledon titles.
  • Rosie Casals and Billie Jean King (1967-68, 1970-71, 1973)
In addition to being a great Wimbledon team that won five titles, Casals and King were part of the “Original 9”. This group was responsible for elevating women’s tennis to a level on par with the men.
  • Louise Brough and Margaret Osbourne-duPont (1946, 1948-50, 1954)
These two American ladies were known for their big serves as well as their doubles prowess at Wimbledon.
  • Gigi Fernandez and Natasha Zvereva (1992-94, 1997)
This is a classic example of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. As singles, Fernandez and Zvereva were underachievers as well as being considered somewhat hot-headed. However, when they teamed up, they were outstanding.
