The FIFA Women’s World Cup is an international football competition contested by the senior women’s national teams of the members of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). Accordingly, here are the greatest FIFA Women’s World Cup teams of all-time.

The Greatest FIFA Women’s World Cup Teams

  • United States (1991, 1999, 2015, 2019)
The USWNT is the most successful national team since the Women’s World Cup was established in 1991. In addition to having won the most titles, the USWNT has finished in the top three in all eight tournaments. With this in mind, can there be any doubt as to its top ranking on this list?
  • Germany (2003, 2007)
The Germans were the first team to win back-to-back Women’s World Cups (in 2003 and 2007). In fact, the German’s noted defensive prowess was so great during the 2007 tournament that they did not allow a single goal. In addition to their two titles, the Germans have had three Top Four finishes.
  • Norway (1995)
The Norwegians have one Women’s World Cup title to their credit, in 1995. However, Norway has consistently put forth quality teams in the World Cup. In fact, Norway has the third-most wins and goals scored in the Women’s World Cup. Altogether, Norway has four Top Four finishes in World Cup play.
  • Japan (2011)
Many fans might take exception to the Japanese team being ranked in this spot, but we beg to differ. While the Japanese record is not that impressive on the whole (eighth-most wins), they must be given props for winning a title. Additionally, they fell just short of defending their title in 2015, losing to the USA in the title match.
  • Brazil
Despite never having won a World Cup, the ladies from Brazil continuously fielded solid teams, as evidenced by their having the fifth-most wins and goals. Additionally, Brazil has a total of two Top Three finishes. Also, they often featured Marta, whom many fans consider the greatest female soccer player in history.
